William John Heusser

May 7, 1946 — January 2, 2019

William John Heusser (Bill) was born on May 7, 1946 in Quincy, Illinois, to Virginia Watters and John Adrian Heusser. At a young age, his family moved to Springfield, Illinois, where Bill graduated from Feitshans High School in 1965. Later that year, Bill enlisted in the Navy. In 1969, he was honorably discharged from the Navy as a Second Class Electronic Technician. While stationed in Japan, Bill started corresponding to a friend of a friend back home who later became his wife in June 1970. Bill and his new wife, Henrietta, moved to Louisville, Kentucky, in order for him to further his education at UIL Electronics School where he graduated second in his class. The day he graduated, he also welcomed his only child, a baby girl, he and his wife named Sue Lynn. A month later, the family moved to Texas and Bill began what was to become an over 25 year career at Texas Instruments (TI). Bill was presented with several concept awards for equipment he designed during his tenure at TI. Bill liked TI and Texas for its laid back attitude, which was like Bill himself.

After leaving TI, Bill had a long, successful career in the telecom industry and was well-liked and respected by his peers. He retired in 2017 at the age of 71. On January 2, 2019, Bill lost his battle with cancer and passed away peacefully at home in Lavon, Texas, with his family by his side.

Bill was known to be highly intelligent with a good sense of humor. He loved music, art and the outdoors. Bill loved to travel, particularly camping in his RV. He and his wife traveled extensively throughout the United States. They also traveled to Canada, Spain, Brazil, Germany and Australia. For years, he was involved in SCCA and IMSA auto racing as part of two successful racing crews. Bill enjoyed working with his hands and, very often, you would find him out in his "barn" crafting wooden work tables or toy boxes for his grandchildren.

Bill will be dearly missed by his wife, Henrietta; his daughter Sue Roesler; his two grand-daughters, Ashley and Meghan Roesler, all of whom reside in Texas. Bill is also leaving behind: his sister Lynn Heusser and her partner, Joe White; his mother, Virginia Heusser; and sister-in-law Catherine Stone, of Springfield, Illinois.
