William "Scott" Hanshaw was born September 3, 1951 in Ft. Worth Texas and passed April 15, 2019 in Dallas Texas from complications after heart surgery.
Scott is survived by his wife of 41 years, Beth Eilene Hanshaw; daughter, Christy Hunter and husband, Jeremy Hunter and grandchildren, Annabeth Franklin, Preston Hunter, and Lilyann Hunter; son, Scott Hanshaw; daughter, Leah Franklin and husband, Ben Franklin and grandchildren, Matthew Franklin and Eli Franklin; son, Brandon Hanshaw; sister, Peggy Woolery; brother, Homer Hanshaw and wife, Glenda Hanshaw; and brother, Cecil Hanshaw and wife, Mary Hanshaw.
As a child of God, Scott loved his Lord and Savior. He was a loving devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was an anchor to his family and friends. He was always there to listen and advise. He started much of that advice with the phrase, "This may be worth to you what it cost you." His advice will be as dear to us as a most valuable treasure. However, he was also extremely generous with random information we may never need again.
Scott was a teacher for First Baptist Academy, Dallas and remained a teacher in spirit for the remainder of his life. He completed 34 years of service with the Federal Reserve Bank, and in pursuit of his dreams, he was a self-published author. Scott was a man interested in people God put in his path. Be it a waiter at a restaurant, stranger at a store, and the many people he met during his travels. He had a genuine interest in who they were, where they came from, and where they were going.
At the hardest times of life, Scott went to the Word of God to find the answer to his struggles. One of his favorite verses was: "He said to him the third time, "Do you love me?" and he [Peter] said to Him, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Feed my sheep." John 21:17
