On April 9, 2021 Russell Clemmons died peacefully at his home in Wylie, Texas with his wife, Leona and son, Blake by his side. Russell was born on July 30, 1937 in Kaufman County. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Wylie, Texas and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather known as "Pawpaw." He will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched.
He was a 1957 graduate of Wylie High School, Mr. WHS, and Most Athletic his senior year. He was also inducted into the Wylie Hall of Honor in 2000. Being an avid sports enthusiast, he played fast pitch softball for many years and loved to referee girls' basketball. In later years golf became his favorite pass time. He played his last round on December 22, 2020.
Russell was a dedicated employee of Sherwin Williams Paint Factory in Garland, Texas for 39 years retiring in 1998. In retirement he loved spending time with family and friends, including his extended family in Emory, Texas.
Russell was preceded in death by his son, David Craig Clemmons, Parents Clyde and Martha Clemmons, brother Buddy Clemmons and sister Floramae Putman.
Those left to cherish his memory are his siblings: Dorothy Strickland Nelson, Margie Rowell, Jerrell Clemmons, and Wayne Clemmons. Loving wife of 38 years, Leona Clemmons, son Blake and wife Deborah Clemmons, stepson Todd Smith, stepdaughters' Shelly Holt and Susie Waggoner. Grandchildren: Nickolas, Dana, Jason and wife Angela, Christopher and Fiancée Riley, Ashley and husband Jacob, Ryan and wife Kristen, Michael and wife Sarina, Mary Beth, Joshua, Brittney, Cade, Hunter, Kevin. Great Grandchildren: Tallyn, Tristan, Aiden, Morgan, Rowan, Jackson, Carter, Avery, and Angel. Nieces, Nephews, and countless loving friends.
