William Childress

William Halton “Bud” Childress, age 82 of Princeton, Texas, passed away on September 25, 2017 in McKinney, Texas. He was born on January 27, 1935 in Collin County, Texas to William B. and Esther Mae (Peden) Childress. Bud married Inez Allen on April 15, 1961 in Oklahoma, and they were married for 51 years before she preceded him in death in 2012. Bud lived in the Princeton area for more than 50 years, and he worked as a steel fabricator. He enjoyed fishing, and playing with his dogs. Bud’s children and grandchildren were very special to him, and his memory will live on through their shared stories and remembrances. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.


Bud is survived by two sons, Paul Childress and wife, Elaine of Farmersville, Texas, and Bill Childress of Princeton, Texas; two daughters, Hazel Attaway and husband, Doug of Van Alstyne, Texas, and Starla Smith and husband, Danny of Princeton, Texas; eight beloved grandchildren, Crystal Vann of Princeton, Texas, Beverly, Steven, Jacob, Ethan, Matthew, Cade, and Luke; and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Esther Childress, his wife, Inez Childress, and numerous siblings.


Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home, 601 S. Tennessee St., McKinney, Texas 75069. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, September 29, 2017 at Charles W. Smith and Sons Chapel in McKinney with Pastor Linda Aaron officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas.
