William David Chapman

December 27, 1944 — December 20, 2016

William David Chapman, 71, passed away on December 20, 2016 in Bonham, Texas. Affectionately known to all as "David", he was one of three children born to Howell and Ola (Hurst) Chapman on December 27, 1944. His sister, Nancy, (Chapman) LaFon preceded him in death. His surviving sister, Shirley (Chapman) Urbano resides in McKinney, Texas.


David married his high school sweetheart Catherine Sue Murphy on July 21, 1962 in McKinney, Texas. Together, they raised four children- Brian, Melinda, Wendy, and Tori. The family lived in the McKinney, Garland, Merit, Leonard, and Bonham areas throughout their lives.


David worked for US Steel/Oil Well for 30 years as a welder. He then became a jailer for Choice Moore in Bonham, Texas for several years before retirement.


Survivors include his beloved wife, Catherine and daughters Wendy and Tori, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, and sister Shirley.


His viewing will take place Thursday, December 22, 2016 from 1-2pm at Charles W. Smith Funeral Home in, McKinney, Texas. There will be a graveside at Wilson Chapel Cemetery, in Lowry Crossing, Texas, following the visitation, all family and friends are invited to attend.


David loved the great outdoors. His passion was hunting and fishing with his only son, Brian, who preceded him in death. He was a loving, caring, compassionate family man who would do anything for anyone. He touched so many lives, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
