Age 71, passed from this life at his home in Garland, Texas on September 5, 2011. He was born in Manila in the Philippines on May 16, 1940 to Manuel Lim and Filomena Villanueva Yap.
Wilfrido was a Roman Catholic. He married Corazon Monteverde in the Philippines on September 10, 1967. They were blessed with one son, Wilfrid Yap.
Wilfrido was a Viet Nam Vet. He served in the United States Navy for 23 years as an aviation mechanic. He was stationed at Miramar Naval Air Station in San Diego, California.
After retiring from the military, Wilfrido became disabled and moved from Washington, D. C. to Garland, Texas in 2002. He enjoyed reading newspapers, watching sports and traveling in different places. He spent his remaining life with his grandchildren and they became the source of his joy and contentment.
Wilfrido is survived by his wife of 43 years, Corazon Yap of Garland, Texas, son Wilfrid Yap and his wife Imelda of Wylie, Texas, three grandchildren Wilora, William and Zach Yap, two brothers Manuel Yap, Jr. and wife Herminia of San Francisco, California and Lamberto Yap and wife Mercedes of Little River, South Carolina, and one sister Sonia Tanchoco and husband Douglas of Los Angeles, California.
Visitation will be Thursday and Friday, September 8 and 9, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Chapel, 2925 Fifth Street at Highway 78 in Sachse, Texas, 75048, 972-4124-5050.
Funeral Service will be at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Chapel, 2925 Fifth Street at Highway 78 in Sachse, Texas, 75048, 972-4124-5050.
