Our Father was a wonderful Christian man who was loved so dearly and brought so much joy to the hearts of those he touched. He was loving, kind, funny, generous, tolerant, an amateur chef, a ladies man and a dear, dear man.
Wilburn Graham Jones passed away peacefully at the home of Scot and Kathy Goodwin on March 25, 2023 at 2:45 PM. He was born on September 23,1926 in Hillsboro, Texas to Jonathan Glover Jones and Grace Bell Jones. Wilburn was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Flynn, Gilbert and Ray Jones, his sister Mary Ann (Sue) Jones and his grandson Kevin Smith.
Wilburn is survived by his daughters Linda Sue Smith (husband Don), Patsy Joyce Dancer (husband Dan) and Kathy Ann Goodwin (husband Scot) along with his step daughters Denise Aday and Sherri McKnight. Wilburn was blessed with many grandchildren, Jason Smith (wife Heather), Kevin Smith (deceased), Koy Goodwin, Kelly Goodwin and Jessica Goodwin Lewis plus great grandchildren Austin, Sarah, Megan, Savannah and Rylee. Wilburn spent the last years of his life as a bachelor, living in Sachse, Texas and most recently in Lavon, Texas. He enlisted and served proudly in the U.S. Army in 1944 where he served in the Philippines and in the 35th infantry. After leaving the military, Wilburn married Eddie Jo Stout and had three daughters, Linda Sue, Patsy (Pat) and Kathy. He subsequently married LaRue Irby and helped raise her two young daughters.
He retired in 1994 from The Carroll Company in Garland, Texas where he was supervisor over the production line. He was a hard worker, a great provider and had an old school work ethic.
And, if help was ever needed then it came so freely from him. No questions. No judgement. No second thought about it. He was always there with his hands outreached to offer you whatever it was that you needed. He was indeed a great man.
