Walter William Neahr

Walter Neahr, (Bill), born December 11, 1944 in Downey, California, passed away on January 22, 2015 in McKinney, Texas after a lengthy illness. Bill was a resident of Anna, Texas, son of James and Frances Neahr. Bill is survived by his children: Kimberly, Ryan, Athena and Michael; 5 grandchildren, Anthony, Zoey, Micah, Zane and Mikayla. A Marine, Viet Nam Veteran, Bill served his beloved country from age 17 to age 22 when he was Honorably Discharged with a Purple Heart after being wounded in a battle at Quang Nai. Bill fought his illnesses with courage and strength he possessed all his life. Bill never met a stranger; he had a great sense of humor and had countless friends. Visitation Tuesday, January 27, 2015, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Charles Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 601 South Tennessee Street, McKinney, Texas. A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at 12:30 p.m. at Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211.
