Von Roy Dunn

Von Roy Dunn was born August 17, 1932 in Altoga, Texas to Carl and Leta Dunn. He graduated high school in McKinney, Texas in 1950. He joined the United States Navy in September 1952 and served aboard the U.S.S. Yorktown as a tail-gunner and was also in charge of supply. After completing his service in the Navy he attended classes at East Texas State University where he majored in math and physics and graduated in May 1957 with a Bachelor's Degree. He married Yvonne Martin on December 31, 1958 and they spent 45 years together. He was a long time resident of Richardson, Texas and a Deacon at Creekside Baptist Church. He was employed at Collins, Rockwell and retired March 1, 1995. He loved to play the banjo and guitar and was a member of Van Ray's band "Old Top Rail." He was survived by many nieces and nephews and preceded in death by his wife; Von Martin Dunn, His Parents; Carl and Leta Dunn, Sister Frances Jewell, and brothers; Glen Dunn, Kenneth Dunn, and Charles Dunn. There will be a visitation for Mr. Dunn beginning at 11:00 am on Wednesday August 21, 2013 at Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home in McKinney, Texas with services following at 1:00 pm. Burial will be at Altoga Cemetery in Altoga, Texas.
