Virginia Marie Harvey

Harvey (Quinn), Virginia (Ginny) Mary 81, passed away on October 17, 2014.

Born August 16, 1933, the only daughter of Edward and Mary (Rushnock) Quinn on the North Side of Pittsburgh PA.

Ginny was a graduate of Annunciation High School in Pittsburgh, graduating in 1951. After high school Ginny enrolled in secretarial school and worked for several years in the secretary pool at the former Allis-Chalmers company in Pittsburgh.

On February 4, 1956, Ginny married her high school sweetheart, Mike Harvey. During their first year of marriage, Mike and Ginny bought a house on Knox Street in Scott Township and started a family. Four children, Karen, Kevin, Timothy and David were born on Knox Street. Ginny was one of the members of the Knox Street Coffee Klatch. This social media group of the pre-internet days, met daily to discuss the latest news and ensure the neighborhood children played outside and were raised with love.

The family moved to Richardson, TX in 1973. Ginny continued to raise her family and took on the responsibilities of caring for her elderly parents.

Once Ginny became an empty-nester she focused her love of children by working in childcare, Ginny worked first at the Spring Creek Day Care and later Kinder Care. There are many 20 and 30 year old Richardson residents that were looked after by "Miss Ginny" at one of the centers.

One she retired, Ginny loved spending her time doting on her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-nieces in addition to working word search puzzles.

Ginny was preceded in death by her beloved husband Mike, this past August and her parents, and brothers Charles (Chas), Bro. Paul, S.M., and brother-in-law, William Harvey.

Son David and Linda of Greeley CO and children: Thad and Brandalyn and daughter Arya; Thomas and Cera; Stephen; Isabella "Bella"; and Tr and Jeremy Hernandez and sons: Tayvin and Cortez

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 25 at 2:00PM at Charles W. Smith Funeral Home Sachse, TX located at 2925 5th Street.
