Thomas Earl Chambers

December 6, 1938 — June 29, 2024

Parker

Thomas Earl Chambers was born December 6, 1938 in Rowlett, Texas to Dixie and Eugene Chambers. He resided in Garland, Texas most of his life. After graduating from Garland High School in 1957, he served two years active duty in the Navy in Jacksonville, Florida and in Kingsville, Texas. After his discharge, he returned to Garland, Texas and married the love of his life, Barbara Smith. He was an active member of Garland First Assembly of God for almost 60 years, where he served on the deacon board and taught Sunday school. He later moved his membership to Northplace Church. He joined the family business, Chambers Bros Construction Company in 1960, where he was responsible for all job sites and management of employees. In 1967, his son, John Trent was born. With the expansion of the family business they moved to Chico, Texas in 1971, where he managed all operations of mining and excavation of aggregate for Chico Stone Inc. He was an active member of Chico Assembly of God, serving on the deacon board and working with children and very involved in the expansion of the new sanctuary. He also served the Chico community and was a board member of Chico ISD.

Thomas enjoyed snow skiing with family and friends, as well as spending time at his farm in Santa Anna, Texas with his grandkids and looked forward to opening weekend of deer season. Thomas was mechanically inclined and loved to repair and fix things, especially at the farm. His favorite dessert was hot apple pie with a slice of American cheese and a big scoop of Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla. He also enjoyed waiting in the car for Barbara, while she shopped til she dropped.

Thomas loved helping people but always wanted to keep a low profile or just remain anonymous. He loved his employees and many were influenced by his life to become followers of Jesus. He retired from full time employment in 1997 when his first grandchild, Briana was born. He wanted to slow down and enjoy his family, especially his grandchildren, Briana and Christian. He rarely missed any of their sporting events no matter how far he needed to drive. Thomas was always concerned for the safety and well being of his family even up until the last few hours of his life. His greatest desire was for his family to always pursue Jesus and keep Him first in their lives. He is survived by his wife, Barbara of 63 years and their son, Trent and daughter in law Angie of Lavon, Texas, grandchildren Briana and Christian and numerous family members.
