Teddy Worth Friesland

December 11, 1941 — December 1, 2021

Teddy Worth Friesland was born on December 11, 1941, in Watauga, Tennessee. He passed from this earth on December 1, 2021, at the age of 79.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Worth and Gearleen Friesland, his mother-in-law, Louise Cockrell, and his granddaughter, Trinity Elisabeth Oden. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sandy Friesland, and his two sisters, Phylis Taylor and Cathy VanHoy. He is also survived by his son, Craig Friesland and his wife, Misti, and their children, Major, Reagan, Colt, and Paxton Friesland. Ted is survived by his daughter, Becky Oden, and her husband, J.T., and their sons, Isaac, Jack, and Trip Oden. Ted is also survived by many other family and friends who loved him dearly.

Ted proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for four years and was stationed at Amarillo Air Force Base where he met Sandy, his lifelong partner and wife of over 56 years. After getting married, Ted and Sandy lived briefly in Dallas, Texas, until moving to their home of over 30 years in Amarillo, Texas. After moving to Amarillo, Ted went to work at Pantex which is the primary United States nuclear weapons assembly and disassembly facility until he retired after more than 30 years of service. While working at Pantex, Ted attended night school where he proudly earned his college degree. Needless to say, Craig and Becky never got to participate in "take your child to work day."

Ted was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Ted loved serving others, and above all, he loved the Lord. Ted served as an Elder in the Church for over 30 years, first serving as an Elder at San Jacinto Church of Christ in Amarillo, Texas, and then at Wylie Church of Christ, in Wylie, Texas.

About 18 years ago, Ted and Sandy moved from their long-time home in Amarillo to be closer to the grandchildren they adored. In his later years, Ted, or "Papaw" as he was known by his grandchildren, enjoyed watching them play football, basketball, lacrosse, volleyball, t-ball, baseball, and participate in all sorts of school activities. If he could help it, he never missed an activity.

RIP - Husband, Father, Papaw, Friend, Mentor, Reagan Republican, Problem Solver, Nuclear Bomb Builder, Elder, and above all, Christian. You will be missed, but we will see you again
someday.
