Ted Alan Gilleland

Ted Alan Gilleland, 64, of Garland, Texas, passed away in his home on November 25, 2016 after a long and courageous battle with leukemia.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM on November 28, 2016 followed by the funeral service at 12:00 PM on November 29, 2016 at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home in Sachse, Texas.

Ted was born in Garfield, California on August 31, 1952. He was married to Linda D. Gilleland (Anderson) on January 25, 1974, and in the following 42 years he dedicated his life to his wife and three boys. Ted most enjoyed spending time with his family at the lake, hunting, and being close to nature. Blessed with five adoring grandchildren, “Pawmaw” cherished his time spent with his grandbabies.

Ted is survived by his wife, Linda; three children, Keith E. Gilleland and his wife Meagan, Matthew A. Gilleland and his wife Crystal, and Cody L. Gilleland and Jane Zhao; his 5 grandchildren Chase, Carson, Ryder, Madison and Timothy; his bonus son, Jeff Rhoades and wife Christine; his many cousins, nieces and nephews, and the rest of his family and friends.

Ted is preceded in death by his parents, Theodore Gilleland and Frances M. Smith (Young); as well as his brother, Timothy L. Gilleland.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The family wishes to thank Dr. Vikas Bhushan, Dr. Patrick Kennedy, and all of the doctors, nurses and caregivers who provided care and comfort during Ted’s prolonged fight against cancer.
