Tauhlee Dockery Summers

August 11, 1920 — January 28, 2019

Tauhlee Genell Summers was born on August 11, 1920 in Nobility, TX. She passed away peacefully at her home in Whitewright on Monday evening, January 28, 2019. She lived to be 98 ½ years of age. Her parents were Sam Dockery and Addie Duckworth Dockery. She was the youngest of 3 children. Her siblings were Ferrell Dockery and Edith Turner. Her parents were farmers and Tauhlee worked on the farm with them.

Tauhlee married William (Wig) Summers, her high school sweetheart, on January 24, 1942 in Sherman, Tx. They farmed for 5 years while living with her mother-in-law, Mamie Summers and Wig's grandmother, Sophia Sheedy.

Wig and Tauhlee built their first home in Trenton. Later, Tauhlee worked in the bank as head bookkeeper. She had her first daughter, Kay and six years later Janice was born. Tauhlee stayed home to take care of them and to cook lunch for Wig when he came home from the Post Office to eat. When Wig took the Whitewright/Trenton rural route, they built a new house and moved to Whitewright in 1969.

Wig and Tauhlee took many wonderful vacations. Their favorites were to Hawaii and the 5 trips to New York City. Wig passed away in 1986, he was the love of her life!

Tauhlee was a life long faithful member of the Church of Christ.

Preceding her in death were her husband Wig, her parents Sam and Addie, her brother Ferrell and wife Modean, her sister Edith and husband Charles and son-in-law Jim Emerson.
