Suriya Bhatti was born on April 15, 1955 to Mr. Bahder Masih and Mrs. Prito Kandiara in Shapur Gorian, Punjab. She was the third child with three brothers and two sisters, six children in the Masih household.
Suriya married Keshiv Bhatti on June 16, 1972. Together they had seven children and eleven grandchildren. Both husband and wife with six of their children migrated to the United States with the help of Keshiv’s brother and sister-in-law, Bhashir and Veena Bhatti. Suriya worked very hard to raise her children, grandchildren, and supported her husband in every way she knew how.
Mrs. Suriya was a devoted member to United Christian Church. Her church family was just as important to her as her own family. She served at the church under the cleaning ministry for several years. Her love for the church and Jesus Christ was taught to all her children. Singing worship songs from back home brought great joy and happiness to her.
During the final year of her life she fought an aggressive cancer without a cure. Everyday she devoted each day to God first regardless of her pain and struggles. Her faith and trust in God were beyond what words can express. She was brought home with hospice care March 22nd and on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, she went home with the lord. She passed away in her home with the love of her entire family by her side.
Suriya Bhatti was a testimony to teaching us no matter how hard or painful life may be, but to always put your faith in God first. Her strength, faith, and joyful presence reminds us it is not about how short life is, but no matter how many years you are here on earth, you live for and through God alone.
