Steven Roger Hackenberg

August 1, 1949 — September 27, 2012

Steven Roger Hackenberg, born August 1, 1949 in Lewisburg, PA, passed on in his home in Allen, TX September 27, 2012. He is survived by his sister Gail Restivo, his daughter Stefanie Lyn Hackenberg, his son Timothy Albert Hackenberg, his daughter-in-law Kathleen Erickson, and grandson Gunnar Albert Hackenberg. Steven was predeceased by his wife Lori Solomon and his parents Cloyd Albert Hackenberg and Verna Schaefer. For 42 years Steve was well known as a Systems Engineer, passionate about the technology he worked with and driven to give his customers the best experience possible. The road was Steve's comfort zone where he met hundreds of people over several geographies, leaving a lasting impression on colleagues, clients, hotel desk clerks, airline personnel, drivers, Admirals Club hosts -- to interact with him even for a moment was to find a laugh or smile in your day. Sincere and open in his warmth, Steve was called "friend"over the years by many who could say he greatly impacted their lives or careers. He was affectionately known for being a sharp dresser; business suits being his trademark. When enjoying personal time Steve was an afficionado of sports cars and custom detailing, winning several car show trophies for his Firehawk. He was also adept at building and painting models, gourmet cooking, putting together jigsaw puzzles, playing craps in Vegas, and buiding elaborate model train sets and towns. His most recent pride and joy was his first grandson. He will be remembered most by his upbeat, enthusiastic drive; his friendly, personable manner; his humor, generosity, loyalty, knowledge; and his ability to listen. He will be greatly missed. A memorial service is planned to celebrate Steve's life on Friday, October 12, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home in McKinney, Texas, 601 S Tennessee St. 75069.
