Stephen Keith Tresenriter

Stephen Keith Tresenriter, of Wylie, Texas, passed on to be with his Lord and Savior September 29, 2023.

Steve was born August 18, 1949 in Dallas, Texas to Franklin Keith and Doris Wanell Stephens Tresenriter. He graduated from H. Grady Spruce High School in 1967, earning UIL state honors as a trombone soloist. He was also awarded a band scholarship to Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, Texas.

Drafted into the U.S. Army in 1969, Steve was assigned to the 27th Infantry Regiment of the 25th Infantry Division, and within a year was serving as a Sergeant in Vietnam. He was presented the Purple Heart as a result of combat wounds inflicted during the war, but he brought home many invisible wounds that never completely healed. He completed his military service in 1975 when he was discharged from the Army Reserves. His family was always proud of his quiet and unwavering patriotism and his honorable service to his country.

Steve accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior as a child and held firmly to his faith throughout his life. More recently, as he struggled with chronic illnesses and the very real pain of loss, he trusted God even more to give him strength and peace.

Steve was known for his humble spirit and his compassion and appreciation of others. His dry sense of humor and quick wit always brought smiles to those around him. He was a bright light in our lives and will be missed dearly by all who were privileged to know him.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Franklin Keith Tresenriter, and his longtime companion, Ginger Walden.

He is survived by his mother, Doris Wanell Tresenriter; son, Bryan Keith Tresenriter; sisters Marcia Lynn Grounds and husband, Dale, and Terry Lane Koschel; nephew, Cameron Dale Grounds and wife, Ryan; niece, Ashley Colleen Grounds; numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; and his beloved dog, Zeke.

Steve personally contributed annually to the Wounded Warrior Project and Disabled American Veterans. Memorial donations made to these organizations would be greatly appreciated by his family.

A memorial service with U.S. Army military honors is pending at DFW National Cemetery with Chaplain Gains Gardner officiating.
