One of six brothers and sisters. A close knit family, spending many weekends at the lake, time in McGregor/Crawford with extended family, and the daily shenanigans of a large family. Playing twister, building a pyramid of them all, watching the stars in the country, the list is endless.
In 1978 he married Kathy Sitton and in October of this year, they celebrated 44 years of marriage. Their history together extended way before the wedding date. Stan and Kathy grew up in Central Lutheran, attending the same Sunday School class, confirmation, Luther leagues.
Fast forward to July 31 of 1993 when Jacob arrived and won our hearts immediately. Stan prided himself on being the best dad ever. When Jacob was little, we played with Big Bird and Marmoo. He moved on to school activities, and didn't miss a one. From 1st grade class plays to 12th grade sports and theater. He was Jacob's biggest fan. He loved it when the friends came over, often setting off a firecracker outside Jacob's bedroom window while the gang was huddled in Jacobs room watching a movie. And who could forget the "Maltskies", an original ice cream float with some kind of sweet treat added on top that Stan whipped up. He always had one for each kid, but Jacobs was always just a little bigger or more special. In these recent years father on son teamed up to work together as Stan taught Jacob the trade. What a blessing that they were able to share this time!
Stan had a witty sense of humor (those that didn't know him would often look at Kathy to see if the was telling the truth, or making up a story) He had a great vision for making things and loved his workshop, he could build items from scratch, just looking at a picture . He was prided himself at troubleshooting a problem and coming up with the solution.
He was quick to give the "Nagel" hug, and had a well known whistle that we all responded to, signaling "I'm here", games on, come now, …
