Sonya Davidson

December 28, 1960 — April 8, 2022

Sonya Davidson- our "Sunny", of Allen, TX was born on December 28, 1960. She was called to her heavenly home and passed peacefully on Friday April 8, 2022.

She was preceded by and the daughter of Sharron and Jerry Martin, and Steve Buckner. She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Brig and her four children, Johnathan, Katharine, Cortland, and Brandon. Her daughter in laws, Alex and Ashley, and son in law Charles. Her grandchildren, whom she called her "angel mine" - Landyn, Vada, Atticus, Easton, Zane and Liv. Her sister, Stephanie. Her mother-in-law, Carol, sister-in-law Camme, brother-in-laws Joe and David. Her nieces Camilla, Anna, Cherlyn and nephew Travis. Of course, her dog children- Jenna, Evee and the late Annabell.

In her early years Sonya loved to go horseback riding with her horse named Sunny Boy. She ran track and was in cheerleading in junior high. She was also in theater at Richardson High School. The best part of Richardson High School for Sonya was meeting the love of her life Brig. They wed in 1980 in Dallas, TX on TX/OU weekend. They welcomed Johnathon a few years later, then Katharine, Cortland and Brandon followed. Sonya worked for the Richardson School District as a teacher at Springridge Elementary. She then worked for the Richardson Administration building for years until her diagnoses of cancer in October of 2014..

In her spare time, she loved to garden, especially tending to her fairy garden. She believed in the magic of the earth and anytime there was a full moon she was outside to capture the moment. You could always find her by the pool reading a good book. She loved a home full of laughter on those hot Texas summer days. The beach was her happy place. Sonya's greatest accomplishments in life were being a wife, mom and grandmother. Brig was her "rock" and "best friend". Sonya was a friend to many. She never met a stranger. Anyone can tell you that the first time they met her, she made you feel so special. She had a way of reading people and being able to be empathetic at a higher standard than most. Every time she said, "I love you with all that I am", you couldn't help but feel a rush of accomplishment and happiness because you knew she meant every word of it. She has always been so proud of her family. She was your biggest cheerleader and if she was on your team than you were one of the lucky ones. Her love of life is instilled in us all. She is our ray of sunshine on a cloudy day.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, May 27, 2022 at Charles W Smith & Sons Funeral in McKinney, TX.
