Shirley Ann Jeffrey

February 26, 1932 — September 4, 2015

Shirley Ann Jeffrey, age 83, passed away September 4, 2015 in Dallas, Texas. She was born February 26, 1932 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Charles and Emma Weiherer.

Shirley attended and graduated from Langley High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and subsequently worked for the Gas Company for many years. Shirley met her husband, Jeff, at a gas station where he worked. They became friends and over the span of ten years fell in love. Jeff proposed to Shirley in a letter while he was serving our country in the U.S. Air Force.

After starting their family and Jeff being discharged from the U.S. Air Force, they settled back in Pittsburgh. They purchased their first house with the money Shirley had saved from her years at the Gas Company. Shirley became a full time mother, raising her two daughters with the traditional values in which she was raised. She was heavily involved in all her daughters' activities including Girl Scouts, gymnastics, baton, band, choir and numerous sports; she was also a prominent member of the PTA.

Shirley was a member of the Ascension Lutheran Church in Pittsburgh, where she served as Director of both the Junior and Senior choirs. Shirley had a wonderful singing voice and sang in many weddings including her daughter Lori's. Shirley was an active member of the Resurrection Lutheran Church for many years and served as a greeter.

She was a long term member of the Shriner organization which supports the Shiner Hospital for Children; she participated in the Rolling Nobles, and was a Cavalier Lady.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Ruth Krause.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-four years, Gordon (Jeff) Jeffrey; two daughters, Lori Engler and her husband, Bill and Amy Ervin and her husband, Bill; four grandsons, Michael O'Rourke and his wife, Shannon, Robert O'Rourke and his wife, Rachel, Alexander Ervin, and Nicholas Ervin; two great-grandsons, Collin Helton and Parker Helton; and numerous other family members.
