Shirley Mae (Phillips) Barringer was born on April 12, 1942, in Hollywood, Florida, and entered her heavenly home on November 9, 2024, after a brief illness. She grew up in Pittsburg, Texas and was crowned the Pirate football sweetheart her senior year. She was also a majorette, although she could not twirl. She began her career in banking and real estate, later finding her true passion for teaching elementary students which she enjoyed over 25 years. Her foundation was built on strength, love, togetherness, dancing, singing, Jesus and a sprinkle of competitiveness when playing games which she loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dock Leon and Fannie Mae Phillips, her brother Norman Phillips, and sister Margie Cooper. She is survived by her loving husband Duane Barringer, her son Lance Whitefield, her son David Whitefield and his wife Leslie, daughter Charis Curbo, daughter Jessica Brackeen and husband Joseph. She was also blessed with seven grandchildren Christin Coile and husband Cody, granddaughter Breelyn Owens and husband Cody, grandson Kagen Parks, grandson Carter Whitefield, granddaughter Raelyn Brackeen, granddaughter Tinley Barringer, grandson Abel Curbo, and two great-grandchildren Beckett Owens and Emery Coile.
