With family by her side, Sandra Yolanda Martinez of Fort Worth, Texas passed away peacefully, on Monday, June 3, 2013 at the age of 62 due to complications with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia). The illness was sudden and quickly progressed with her succumbing unexpectedly. While she did not suffer long, she sadly passed away at a very young age.
She was born June 26th,1950 in Mathis, Texas to Catholic parents Lydia De La Cruz Guerra and Ecarnacion "Frank" Martinez.
She was a hardworking and caring woman who achieved a degree as a Licensed Vocational Nurse "LVN" practicing in Plainview, Lubbock and surrounding areas. She loved life and was passionate about her family finding great pride in her role as wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. Never one to slow down, she enjoyed spending her free time with family, shopping, gardening and playing video games
She was preceded in death by her husband Mauricio Castillo Martinez, son Peter Martinez, father Ecarnacion "Frank" Martinez and grandmother, Leonor Almaraz.
Survivors include Mother Lydia De La Cruz Guerra and step father Joseph Guerra, children Debbie her husband Joe Elsenburg of Frisco Texas, Melissa Martinez and Clint Weber of Dallas Texas, Mauricio Jr. his wife Jennifer Martinez and granddaughter Madison Nicole Martinez of Fort Worth Texas, and Keith his wife Nikole Martinez and granddaughter Bailey LeeAnna Martinez of Frisco, Texas; sister Aldrianna Walters and Greg Glasscock, brother Eloy and Dahlia Martinez, sister Anne and Daniel Hanson, brother Paul Martinez, brother Kris Guerra, sister Lisa Guerra and husband James Hardman, and sister Cynthia and husband Edmund Gonzales along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services were held on Wednesday, June 5, 2013. Per her wishes, it was a small, intimate gathering.
