Samuel Romero

April 1, 1989 — September 22, 2024

Josephine, Texas

Samuel Kenneth Romero, born April 1989 passed away peacefully at the age of 35 on Sunday, September 22, 2024. He was born in Riverside, California and raised in Beaumont, California where he enjoyed cross country, scooting and playing in the mountains of San Bernadino and San Jacinto.

In his younger years, Samuel was a deep thinker and shy. Coach Tedrow was the teacher who saw Sam’s potential and encouraged him to run. Through cross country, he shined and went on to win many first place awards and recognition for his highschool. He later joined the United States Air Force where he was recognized as the fastest runner at Robins Air Force Base from 2011 to 2015. Samuel was passionate about his interests. He taught himself how to play guitar and later fabricated four of his own. He took pleasure in mountain biking and then began reconstructing his own mountain bikes. He also found tranquility in drawing and mastered shading to which he created beautiful sketches of people he held close to his heart.

When Samuel joined the United States Air Force in 2010 and was assigned his position, we saw no less than efficiency, reliability, and dedication to his work within the Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar Systems (JSTARS), the 461st Maintenance Squadron at Robins Air Force Base. His patriotism and strong opinion on the meaning of freedom solidified and became apparent. In his years of service, he sought and found brotherhood in his many assignments and deployments. He supported and helped his fellow Airmen through their psychological battles even as he battled his own. After 11 years of steadfast service to his country, he was Honorably Discharged in January 2022.

He and his family moved to Texas where Samuel began working on military planes at L3 Harris, but found purpose working as a custodian at Roderick Elementary School. He enjoyed seeing the children laugh and learn throughout the day, and shared a cheerful smile or high five to all the students. He was dedicated to making sure the children played in a safe and clean environment, and extended a hand for a fun sticker to any student who may need a little extra encouragement.

Samuel leaves behind his wife, Nicole Magalad and children Isabella, Lucas, and Oliver, his sisters Amanda and Karah Romero, his nieces and nephews Lilyanna, Kai, Jason, Lola, Roman, Lincoln, and his parents Anselmo Romero and Shanene Romero.

Samuel’s wish is for everyone to know the creator’s true name and to call out to He who was in the beginning and who decides in the end. His name is YaHuWah.
