Samir Majeed Kawar

September 24, 1944 — August 19, 2016

Samir Majeed Kawar, age 71, went to be with the Lord on August 19, 2016.

Samir was born in Nazareth, Palestine to Salma and Majeed Kawar on September 24, 1944.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Freida, son Ehab and wife Lisa, daughter Reema, and son David Kawar, grandchildren Hayley, Eric, Hannah, Sabrina and Samira.

He is also survived by his brother Bishara and wife Haifa, and sisters Suad, Samia, Suhaila, sister-in-law Joy, his in-laws the Ashkar family, and many nieces and nephews. He considered many church members to be family as well.

Samir lived in Jordan and moved to America in 1972. In 1974, he made the best decision of his life when he accepted the Lord as his personal savior. He lived in New Jersey, Wisconsin, and moved to Texas in 1989. He graduated with a degree in Pastoral Ministries from Dallas Baptist University. He became pastor of the Arabic Baptist Church of Dallas, and assisted in planting churches in Dallas for the Sudanese.

In 2006, the Lord called him to serve and plant churches in the heartland of the United States. For the next four and a half years, the Lord used him to open churches in Wichita, KS, Kansas City, KS, and Omaha, NE where he served full-heartedly.

To know Samir is to love him. He truly had a servant heart and considered the church family as his blood family. His biggest passion in life was to serve the Lord, reach the lost and to encourage and unify believers. If anyone had a need, Samir was there at any time day or night.

He had a love for all of God’s creatures. He loved his gardens and took pride in them. Samir was always smiling and enjoyed making people laugh and to see people happy.

He always put everyone before himself. Many people considered him to be a father figure and loved him as one. If Samir had a dollar, he would find four people who needed a quarter. Samir was an inspiration to many. The impact he made to those he came in contact with will be felt for years to come.

He taught us how to live, how to serve, and how to die in peace. He was ready to meet Jesus, his Lord and Savior. We are sure he is rejoicing in heaven and praising him.
