Sallie Rae Ritcheson Riddles

Sallie Rae (Green) Ritcheson Riddles died at her home in Murphy, Texas on June 13, 2016. She was 78 years old. Sallie was born August 9, 1937 in Uvalde, Texas to George Athel Green, Jr. and Mary Louise (Jackson) Green. Orphaned as a child, she was given a home and loving family by “Dad” and “Mom,” John Plath Green and Margueritte Green of Dallas, Texas. Sallie was preceded in death by Mom, Dad and her sisters, Jackie Louise Pechacek (of Kerrville, Texas) and Olive Laverne Gilmore (of Birmingham, Alabama).

Soon after graduating from Hillcrest High School, Sallie married at the age of 17. A survivor and fighter, she raised four children for many years on her own. When one job was not enough, she took others to support her family. She was a self-taught court reporter and served with several Dallas County family, probate and district courts until her retirement in 1998. Her family will remember her for her sense of humor, compassion, adventurous spirit, intelligence, and love of family.

In 1977 she married Amis Joe Riddles, Sr. In Joe she found a companion and best friend. They sang together, played the guitar, hiked, traveled Central America and much of the American West, and enjoyed 22 years of marriage until Joe’s death on August 25, 1999.

Sallie is survived by her sister, Robin Green and husband, Sandy Esserman of Dallas, Texas and her brother, Randy Green and wife, Suzie of Washington.

Sallie is also survived by her children: Dane H. Ritcheson and wife, Cindy of Douglasville, Georgia; Karen Ann McMillan and husband, Neil of Graham, Texas; Scott A. Ritcheson and wife Karen, of Tyler, Texas; Wayne H. Ritcheson and wife, Nicole of Sachse, Texas; and step-sons A.J. Riddles, Jr. of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Patrick Riddles of Plano, Texas. Sallie had ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren are: Jessica Conner and husband, Jeff of Dallas, Georgia; Kelsey Ritcheson of Douglasville, Georgia; Jenny Adams and husband, Joe of Argyle, Texas; Jillian Frye and husband, Brent of Pinehurst, North Carolina; Doug A. Ritcheson and wife, Katie of Tyler, Texas; Dane C. Ritcheson and wife, Mindi of Midlothian, Texas; David S. Ritcheson of Louisville, Kentucky; Audrey J. Ebers and husband, Aaron of Houston, Texas; Ashlyn Ritcheson of Sachse, Texas; and Kirsten Ritcheson of Sachse, Texas.

A memorial service for Sallie will be held at First United Methodist Church in Sachse, Texas on Thursday, June 16, 2016, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Visitation with family and friends will precede the memorial service and begin at 9:30 a.m. The Reverend Ben Shinn will officiate. Burial is at the Overton City Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Pallbearers are Doug Ritcheson, Dane Ritcheson, Aaron Ebers, Neil McMillan, Joe Adams and Isaac Adams.
