Sallie Vernell Dale

April 27, 1930 — January 26, 2019

Sallie Vernell Dale, 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on January 26, 2019 in her Garland home. Sallie was born on April 27, 1930 in Detroit, TX to Emmitt & Gladys Pratt.
Sallie graduated from Detroit High School in 1949. She met the love of her life, James "Bubber" Dale whom she married on February 18, 1950 in Blossom, TX.
Bubber and Sallie eventually made their home in Garland children where they raised their 3 children.

When Sallie's children began school she became actively involved in the PTA. In April 1983 she was awarded the Honorary Life Membership in the Texas Congress of PTA along with an Outstanding Volunteer Service Award from Governor Mark White. Sallie was a member of First Baptist Church Garland for over 50 years.

Sallie worked in the North Garland High School cafeteria for over 20 years and was active in the Garland Retired School Personnel for many years after her retirement. She volunteered at Baylor Hospital Garland for over 20 years as a cuddlier in the baby department.

Sallie was the heart and soul of her family and her love will be greatly missed. Sallie's family have great memories of gathering together for family meals, celebrations and holidays spent together. Sallie had a servants heart and always put others first. Sallie was never idle, she was outgoing and social. She used those characteristics to serve others. She was a wonderful country cook and loved sharing her deserts with others.

Sallies was preceded in death by her husband, grandson, Jamie Dale, parents, and her four siblings, Morris, G.D., Modie, and Emmitt Ray.
She is survived by her three children, James Dale and wife, Jennifer of Greenville, Vicki Noll and husband, Tracy of McKinney, Ted Dale and wife, Esther of Caddo Mills; four grandchildren, Jason, Erika, Kourtni and Shelby; three great grandchildren, Cooper, Brenna and Noah; sister, Dixie Chism and husband, Harrell; sister-in-law, Murel Pratt and numerous nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to Griswold Home Care, Elizabeth, Tia, Debbie and Caroline for taking such good care of our Mom.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Funeral services will follow at 1:00pm at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home in Sachse.

Interment will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park in Greenville, TX.

We love you dearly and will miss you tremendously Mom.
