Ruth Joan Somers (88 years of age) of Wylie, TX passed away on Friday June 22, 2018 at Cornerstone Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
A service was held at 9:30 am, Tuesday July 3rd, 2018 at Charles W. Smith and Sons funeral home in Sachse, TX. The service was conducted by Frank Caro, an associate pastor at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. The final graveyard service was at the DFW National Cemetery.
Mrs. Somers was born March 27, 1930 in St. Louis. She is the daughter of George Patke and Olive Patke. She married Donald Glenn Somers on May 27 1956, in Hernando, Mississippi. She was a full time home maker.
She has survived two sons - Gary Alan Somers (of Wylie, TX) and Donald Glenn Somers Jr (of Plano, TX). She also survived three daughters - Jean Mariee Barton and husband Chuck Barton (of Tulsa, OK), Sherry Lee Kuzbari and husband Omar Kuzbari (of Richardson, TX), and Kimberly Ann Somers (of Old Town, VA). She also left behind eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The grandchildren are - Andrew and Phillip Somers, Carolyn and Jennifer Barton, Amir, Sara, Sahar, and Zak Kuzbari. Great grandchildren are - Austin Cesmat, Charlie-Rose and Michael Heyen, and Omar Akram Kuzbari.
