Ruth Annette Coon

May 23, 1957 — June 21, 2020

Ruth Annette Coon, called "Annette" (or more lovingly, "Mama Coon,") passed away on Sunday June 21, 2020 in McKinney, Texas. We will gather to celebrate her beautiful life at 4:00pm on Saturday June 27, 2020 at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home in downtown McKinney, Texas.

She was born on May 23, 1957 in Ganado, Texas to Esther Estrello and Morris Nava.

Annette was a fun-loving, creative, and sensitive soul who loved writing poems, dancing to disco music, the smell of rain, and cruising around town. She met the love of her life, Ronnie, in high school and they were married on April 4, 1986 in Lubbock, Texas. After having children of her own, she truly became everyone's "Mama," taking all of her children's friends under her wing as well. Her love of children and education led Annette to be an integral and beloved volunteer at Maedgen Elementary School in Lubbock, Texas.

Later in her life, Annette's proudest achievement was being the most loving "Grammy" to her sweet granddaughter who made her laugh and light up daily.

Survivors include her husband, Ronnie Lee Coon; daughter, Brittany Nicole Prince, and her husband Jeff; son, Adam Blake Coon; granddaughter, Presley Rose Prince; and brother Steve Nava.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Esther Estrello Rank and Morris Nava; stepfathers, George Lepel and Cecil Rank; and brother Austin Glenn Simmons.
