Russell Asbury Mantooth

September 28, 1923 — July 31, 2023

McKinney

Russell A Mantooth passed away at his home July 31, 2023 into the loving arms of Jesus Christ.

Russell was born September 28, 1923 in McKinney, Texas to Homer D Mantooth and Nancy Adeline Baker Mantooth. Russell is survived by his daughter, Sharon Wallace and husband David and Russell R Mantooth and wife Cindy; grandchildren Amy Nocktonick and husband Ryan, Jennifer Caldwell and husband Danny, Toby Wallace, Wes Wallace and wife Anna, Holly Wallace, Lance McCrary, Chad McCrary, Angie Masters, Mark Mantooth, Diana Carter and husband Kevin; 14 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Frances L Mantooth; son, Jerry E Mantooth; daughter, Linda J McCrary; his 3 sisters and 3 brothers.

Russell married the love of his life Frances L Duncan on February 14, 1943. He proudly served in the United States marine corp during WW2. Afterwards he worked as a sheet metal fabricator for the aircraft industry. He and Frances bought a farm in 1959 in Altoga, Texas and moved there with their four children in 1960. He continued to work in the aircraft industry and work on his farm in his free time. He had a passion for working on the farm and tending to his cattle.

He was a member of Altoga Baptist Church for decades where he served as a deacon as well as other areas. He and his wife raised their four children to honor God and be a servant to others. He was an humble man who led his family by example. Russell was a gentle kind man who loved his wife and children dearly. He was a frugal man who enjoyed the simple things in life. He and Frances were married 68 years and it hurt him deeply when she passed in 2011. The years following her death, he enjoyed doing farm work when his health allowed and his family loved and doted on him daily. He gave huge hugs to his loved ones and expressed his gratitude often. He almost made it to the age of 100 but the Lord decided it was time to call him home. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. His family is grateful for the loving caregivers and friends who assisted and visited him the last year. He will be missed by all his family and friends forever…..  until we meet again in Heaven!
