SLAUGHTER, Ruby Gladys passed away on July 2, 2022, the day before her 83rd birthday, at her home in Rockwall, Texas. She was born in Swedeborg, MO. and moved to Dallas, Texas as a teenager with her mother and 2 older sisters. She loved to travel and had an exciting career in the airline industry before becoming a mother to Greg and Paula. Ruby was a retired Texas Municipal employee after her 35-year long career with the Dallas and Addison Police Departments, where she made a multitude of lifelong friends. Ruby collected friends wherever she went and "never met a stranger", as she liked to say. She loved music, dancing, and singing, especially in 3-part harmony with her 2 sisters, Selma and LaDonne. She loved so many people in her life and provided a steady supply of encouragement and support to her friends and family.
Ruby is surely dancing and singing with the Lord and those who preceded her passing: her mother and stepfather Pauline and Terry Gant; her sister and brother-in-law, LaDonne and Jack Thompson.
Ruby is survived by sister and brother-in-law, Selma, and Robert Gappa; her son and daughter-in-law, Greg, and Katrina Slaughter; her favorite grandson, Jacob Slaughter; her daughter and son-in-law, Paula, and Tim Holden; 7 nephews and their wives and families; many grand nieces and nephews; a host of loving friends, relatives, and colleagues too numerous to count. Memorial Service – 12:00 PM, Saturday, July 16th, 2022, Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home (Chapel), 2925 Fifth St., Sachse, TX. 75048.
