Ruby Beatrice Duke

Ruby Beatrice Lewis was born on April 2, 1923 to James Albert Lewis and Hattie Helens Holladay Lewis in Greenville, Alabama. She was 13th of 14 children.

She grew up on a farm outside of Greenville and graduated from Greenville High School in 1940.

She married Henry Hillary Duke on September 5, 1946 in Ouachita, Arkansas.

The Air Force moved them to Montgomery, Alabama where over the next five years they would have four of their six children, Mickey Donald Duke, Rita Dale Duke Gilbreth, Patrice Anne Duke Nickell and Brenda Marie Duke Fuller. Dwight and Duane would join the family ten years later when they lived in Spokane, Washington.

When The children were 5, 3, 18 months and 6 months old, Ruby got on a prop jet plane and flew from Montgomery, Alabama to Fairbanks, Alaska. There were approximately 20 moves after that before they settled in Eufaula, Alabama in 1982. She lived there until November 2012, when she moved to Texas to be near to her daughters and their families. She remained in Texas until her death March 7, 2018. She was 26 days from being 95 years old.A visitation will beheld on Saturday March 10, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Charles W.
