Ronnie Benson Medcalf of Wylie, born January 22, 1953, passed away July 14, 2014 in the arms of his loving wife and children, surrounded by his mother, father, sister, and extended family and friends, after an almost two year battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was a wonderful Husband, Father, Son and Grandpappy. He loved his family and always put others first. He worked hard to make life special for his wife, children and grandson.
Ronnie was born in McKinney and grew up in Garland. He graduated from Garland High School in 1971. Ronnie and his wife, Jo Nell have been members of Northlake Baptist Church in Garland since 1978. Ronnie worked 37 years for Thermo Sensors with family and friends and always took pride in his work.
Ronnie was always a planner and made sure everyone always had what they needed. He picked up an old hobby a few years ago, playing the Clarinet. He was very dedicated to his practice, recitals and even his performance with the Rockwall Community Band. He loved every minute of playing and would play every evening. Ronnie was such a fighter and a hero to all of us. He never complained about any of the treatment or pain. Everyone we know is so proud of him for being so brave.
Ronnie is survived by his wife of forty years, Jo Nell; his son, Brandon; his daughter, Julie; and one grandson, Grey Benson; his parents, James and Dorothy Medcalf; his in-laws, Joe and Louise Akin; one sister, Connie (John) Cother; brother, Jimmy; and a large extended family that love him so much.
