Ron was born April 4, 1967 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and raised in Plano, Texas. He graduated from Plano East Senior High School in 1985. Ron received a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from The University of Texas at Arlington and was a member of the Sigma Gamma Tau, Aerospace Engineering Honor Society. Ron was employed by L3 Technologies Aerospace Systems in Greenville, Texas. He began his 20 year career with L3 in the Sustainment Engineering group, as a Structural Liaison Engineer, developing aircraft structural repairs for discrepancies discovered during aircraft maintenance. Ron then transferred into Aeronautical Systems Engineering, as a Structural Analysis Engineer, developing structural analysis to substantiate the airworthiness of aircraft intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance modifications on many different types of aircraft. Ron also traveled extensively to South Korea to teach South Korean Engineers aircraft structural analysis in support of their multi-mission aircraft modifications.
