Roland Avery Hall

Roland Avery Hall was born August 11, 1939 in Baptist Hospital, San Antonio, Texas and passed away at home on April 6, 2020 in Garland, Texas. Roland wed the late Barbara Nell Earley June 29, 1963 in Austin, Texas and were married for 50 years. He is survived by his children Kathy Fields and William Hall; his sister Jeanette Hall Smith; his Sister-in-law Phyllis Earley and Brother-in-law Bob Earley; his grandchildren Jarrett Fields and Jacob Fields; and his nephews Sterling Smith and Brandon Smith.
Most of Roland's career was spent with Texas Instruments, from which he retired in 1994; He also worked as a camera operator for local stations in Dallas, Bryan and New Orleans; After retirement to stay active he worked for the Garland Independent School district as a Life Skills Substitute teacher, a Crossing Guard and as School bus aide.
Roland enjoyed volunteering his time and energy to a number of places he loved over the years: He was a Deacon, sang in the Choir and ran the sound board for the Barnabas class at First Baptist Church, Garland; He was very active serving with the Texas Baptist Men; He went on a number of mission trips with Buckner International, taking shoes to children in need, volunteered for years to play Santa for kids in the Garland area, and spent a number of year volunteering at the Global Maritime Ministries in New Orleans, LA. He loved to serve and help others.
He had several Interest and hobbies he enjoyed sharing with others: He was really interested in Trains, Technology, History, Geology and researching the family Genealogy. He enjoyed working with Ham Radios (call sign K5FBRL) and was a Member of the Mesquite Ham Radio club for years. He enjoyed playing a game called Munzee with his nephew and son and loved to travel; taking his family on trips every year.
Roland lived a long and very full life, impacting most he met. He will be missed.

A private graveside service for Family will be held Friday, April 10,2020 at 11:00am at Sparkman-Hillcrest Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. There will be a Celebration of Life service scheduled once the coronavirus restrictions have been lifted.
