Robert Carl Sawyer

Robert Carl (Bob) Sawyer, 68, of Garland, Texas, passed away at the VA hospital in Dallas, August 5, 2015. He was born April 14, 1947 in Dallas, Texas to Joe & Mary Sawyer. He is survived by his wife Paula Sawyer of 34 years, of Garland, Texas, sister Toni Stiendorf of Dripping Springs, Texas, Mark Sawyer of Austin, Texas and Randy Sawyer.

Sgt. Robert Carl Sawyer served his country in the USMC during the Vietnam War, 1964 - 1971. While in Vietnam he served with 3rd battalion landing team 2nd Battalion 9th Marines as Sergeant of the guard 1970-1971 and he served with the 3rd Force Recon Co.

Robert received Rifle Marksman Badge, Good Conduct Metal, Vietnam Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal. He was a life member of the Leatherneck Club of North Texas and the VVA. He also was a life member and an advocate supporter of the NRA and TSRA, the Defenders Club and North American Hunting Club. After he served his country he worked as an Aeronautics Engineer, from which he retired from in 1998.
