Robert Lee Sandifer, a long time resident of Garland, TX. passed away on December 6, 2014 following a lengthy illness.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at the sanctuary at the First Baptist Church in Garland on Friday, December 12 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be held in the sanctuary one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Big Springs Cemetery, 6538 North Jupiter Road in Garland.
Robert was born to Robert Bruce Sandifer and Lovie Alphadelle Sandifer on June 4, 1937 in Dallas, TX. Robert grew up in Garland and graduated from Garland High School. He was employed by Texas Instruments in Dallas for 39 years before
retiring in 1998. He enjoyed gardening, travel, spending time with his family and friends, reading and discussing politics and current world situations.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Shirley Sandifer, and his sister Helen Young. He is survived by his wife Melba Sandifer (married since 2004), sister Dorothy Davis, sons Robert Bruce Sandifer and wife Betty; Greg Keys and wife Rita, daughter Tonya Warren and husband Mark, seven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Also surviving are two step children, Don Rhudy, and Debra Gray, along with six step-grandchildren.
