Robert Louis Liles, born in St. Louis, Missouri, on March 15, 1958, passed away on February 26, 2024, at the age of 65.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Edweina (Ferrell) Liles, his father, Louis E. Liles, and his niece, Sherilyn N. Bentley. Robert was never married, with no children, but loved his family, including nieces and nephews. Robert Liles’ family members include sister, Dianna (Liles) Talcott Asher, (Dr. Fred Asher), niece, Tonya (Talcott) Welch (Kellen Welch), Robert’s great nephews, Kelton Welch, and Caiden Welch; and Robert’s sister, E. Louise Bentley (James V. Bentley), niece, Dr. Elissa (Bentley) Martin, Alex Martin, and great nephews William Martin, and Nicholas Martin; and Robert’s niece, Jamie L. Bentley; as well as beloved cousins, aunts and uncles.
Robert attended Hazelwood, Missouri schools, prior to joining the Army where he served honorably for 4 years including Germany. His army service was recognized with many special achievement medals. Robert relocated to Dallas, Texas, in 2002 where he enjoyed seeing many of his favorite guitar musicians perform, like Willie Nelson, Eric Clapton, Jimmie Vaughan and others. Robert was a huge fan of St. Louis Cardinals baseball, and Texas Rangers, especially enjoying seeing them win the 2023 World Series! Robert attended Hazelwood Baptist Church in this youth, and visited Prestonwood Baptist Church, Plano, Texas, with family. A small family service will be held in the Chapel of Charles W. Smith Funeral Home in McKinney, on his birthday, March 15. A private military tribute follows, at DFW-National Cemetery in Arlington, Texas.
