Robert "Bob" Owen Lane, 80, of Wylie, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2014.
Bob was born on March 1, 1934, in Oak Cliff to Robert and Vivian (Stinson) Lane.
Bob was a Vietnam Vet who served and protected our country for 21 years in the United States Air Force from which he retired. After his service to our country Bob spent 18 years working for Texas Instruments where he also retired. In his later years he worked as a school bus driver for the Garland Independent School District. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.
It was while working at TI where he met his wife of 28 years, Sharon. Bob and Sharon were married on December 3, 1985.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Anne Lane; sister Susan and Jay McHenry; daughter Terry Lane; son Larry and Rhonda Lane; son Jason and Holly Straub; son Keith Straub and Marla Sprowls; daughter Michelle and Raymond Camarillo and daughter-in-law Jennifer Straub as well as nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.
The viewing will be held from 9-noon with the memorial service immediately following at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Homes at 2925 Fifth Street in Sachse, Texas 75048 on Saturday, May 24, 2014.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children at 2222 Welborn Street, Dallas, Texas 75219 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
