Robbie Christene Ayers

Robbie Christene (Maner) Ayers passed peacefully at Hilltop Haven Christian Care Center in Gunter, TX on August 11,2011, to be with our Heavenly Father. Tena, as she was known by her friends, was born February 24, 1924 in Leonard, Texas. She was 87 years old. She is preceded in death by her husband, Alfred R. Ayers. She is preceded in death by several brothers and sisters, Ben Maner, Scott Maner, and Velma Huskey. She leaves behind loving sisters, Inell Owen of Plano, Margie Record of Richardson, and brother, Jesse James Maner of Carrollton. Tena leaves one daughter, Sandra Ayers Kon, a granddaughter, Natasha Richer and her husband Jeff, and two grand sons, Mason and Brady, who knew her as Gran Nana.

Tena and Alfred married in 1942 and lived in Sherman, TX. They moved to Pleasant Grove, before settling in Richardson, TX for 25 years. Originally from Leonard, TX she met her beloved husband while in high school and they were married for 67 years. They were members of Heights Baptist Church.

Tena was a bookkeeper for the Pleasant Grove Water Co. for many years and worked as a bookkeeper for several other businesses before retiring from A & H Plumbing in Garland, TX. She loved entertaining. She was quite the hostess. There were always guests at their table on Sunday’s and she always had freshly baked snacks for anyone stopping by for a visit. She loved to cook, quilt, sew, and do ceramics. Her house was always decorated for the holidays, with Christmas being the favorite holiday.

She had a kind and loving spirit and all who knew her were blessed by her. Her sweet smile will be forever in our hearts.

Graveside services will be Monday August 15,2011,10:00 a.m.Valley Creek Cemetery,Leonard,Texas.
