Ricky Dwayne Martin, Jr., age 47, passed away October 8 in Wylie after a lengthy illness. He was born January 3, 1969 in Abilene.Martin is survived by his wife, Dawn Howard Martin; son Tate; daughter Mackenzie; newborn granddaughter, Ryleigh Duke; parents, Rick Martin and Lavonne Mills Elam; brothers Buck Martin (Stephanie), Shayne Sneed, and Dusty Martin (Whitney); and a sister, Cristy Carpenter (Derrick), as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.Martin was a graduate of W.W. Samuel High School in Dallas and attended Bethany College in Lindsborg, KS.Martin loved sports, especially football and baseball. He was a devoted fan of the Texas Longhorns, Denver Broncos, and Texas Rangers. His passion was watching his son Tate play baseball. Hobbies included listening to music, bowling, reading and movies.Pallbearers include Buck Martin, Shayne Sneed, Dusty Martin, Shawn Howard, Tony Blassingame, Josh Martin, Jacob Pryor and Tristan Loven.Honorary pallbearers are Tate Martin, Cole Howard, Logan Howard, Jarren Lubojacky and Brenden LaBarba.Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Visitation is Thursday, October 13 from 5:00 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church on Friday, October 14 at 10 a.m. followed by burial at Lakeview Cemetery.
