Richard is survived by his wife, Amie, to whom he was married for 32 years. He is also survived by his daughter; Mitzie Walker-Vargas and her husband, Andros Vargas, son; Richard Jr.; mother, Anita Carrell, sister; Melanie Doverspike, and many other family members and friends.

Richard is preceded by his father, Jackie Doverspike, and his brother, John Paul Doverspike.
