We regretfully announce the passing of Richard Leon Sampson, who passed away surrounded by his loved ones on April 29, 2024.
Richard was born on June 20, 1947 in Fort Worth, TX. He attended Irving schools, then went on to join the Marines. During his service, he was an airplane mechanic and maintenance technician.
In life, Richard was a passionate man and avid music lover. He also enjoyed racing; whether it was dirt cars, motorcycles or airplanes. If it could race, he would watch it.
He was predeceased by his parents Leon Sampson and Helen Milberger, step-mother Flossie Sampson, step-son Joel Rollins, and grandson Zeke Sampson.
Richard is survived by his wife Melba Sampson, and siblings Helen and Jerry Sampson.
He is also survived by his two sons Jesse and Zachary Sampson, along with his 10 grandchildren Harlie Sampson, Anna-Mae Sampson, Kaleb Jordan, Kayleigh Sampson, Savanah Sampson, Sydney Sampson, Eric Sampson, Madelyn Sampson, Alyssa Sampson, and Titus Sampson.
Viewing will be held at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home in Mckinney, TX on Tuesday May 7, 2024 from 10:00AM-11:00AM.
Graveside service to follow at Highland Cemetery in Melissa, TX at 12:00PM.
