Richard Wade Jones

Richard (Rick) Wade Jones, Sr. passed from this life into Jesus' arms peacefully on the 21st of April, 2022. He loved his family and friends dearly and his generous character and sharp wit made it easy for others to love him back.

Rick was born April 22, 1939, in Louisville, KY, to Laurence Payne Jones and Mary Carolyn Billick Jones. He grew up in Louisville and was educated at Christ the King elementary school, Flaget high school and, later, SMU Cox School of Business. He moved to Dallas in 1957, and began a diverse career in business management and sales working for extended periods for Firestone Tire and Rubber and Kyser Musical Products. He loved to work with his hands, working puzzles, watching and playing sports, playing the harmonica, and making others laugh.

He was a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Garland, and was a charter member of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew service organization. He was also a past member of the Garland Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association.

In addition to his cherished wife, Elaine, Rick is survived by Kelly Jones and Lara Martinez, daughter and daughter-in-law, Chip and Stephanie Jones, son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Rae Lynne Jones, son and daughter-in-law. He is also survived by his sister, Tricia Bright, of Bremerton, WA. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Mary Laurence Jones Opie, his brother William David Jones, and grandson Taylor Jordan Jones. He loved his 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and enjoyed making special memories with them.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 26th, 2:00 PM at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 1200 North Shiloh Rd., Garland, with The Reverend Miguel Carmona officiating. A reception will follow in the Mary Stuart Hall.
