Rhonald Dean Walker, 80, of Garland, Texas, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at T. Boone Pickens Hospice with his daughter by his side.
Rhonald grew up in Alvarado, Texas always calling it home. After graduating high school, he joined the US Air Force Reserve obtaining a rank of Staff Sergeant during his military service.
Rhonald always had a passion for education. He graduated from the University of North Texas with an Accounting degree and became a CPA. He then attended SMU Law School where he focused on Tax Law earning a combined JD and LLM. Rhonald devoted 44 years of his life at SMU Cox School of Business teaching accounting, tax, and law. He retired as a Professor Emeritus. Even after retiring, Rhonald pursued academic learning, but this time he was focused on deepening his faith. Rhonald was a life-long teacher and student.
A Celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, February 27 at First Baptist Garland, 801 W Avenue D, Garland, TX 75040. A visitation will be held prior to the service at 10:00 AM. Rhonald will be laid to rest at Glenwood Cemetery in Alvarado, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Rhonald is survived by his two daughters, Ashley (Walker) McCarty and Amy Walker; granddaughters, Jaiden and Favour Walker; sister and brother-in-law, Jackie and Richard Skipper; and many loving nephews and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alyene and Doyal Walker, and his older brother Charles Walker.
