Raymond Lee Linger

January 13, 1934 — April 10, 2019

Raymond Lee Linger was born premature, weighing about 2 pounds on January 13, 1934. He was born in Braxton County, West Virginia, the first born in a large family. It's been said he was kept in the oven to keep warm drinking cow's milk. He was raised with strong work ethics and was a kind man who would return after 12 hours of hard labor and still ask our mother if he could be of any help. He loved being with family, hanging out with his grandchildren, going fishing, and enjoying good food.
Ray passed away April 10, 2019 in Garnett Hill Nursing home with family by his side. Even family from far away was able to be there with us by phone.
Above all else he loved our mother Carolyn Jean Frederick Linger. He left the Air Force and together they raised their 5 children in East Liverpool (Glenmoor) Ohio. They migrated to Texas in 1984 after Crucible Steel closed.
Dad rarely missed a Texas Rangers Game. He fought hard to keep his independence for so long. He disliked asking for help and refused to age gracefully. Dad never gave up the fight until his body finally failed him. He used to say "You can sleep when you're dead." Somehow we can't imagine that being the case with Dad. Now that he has passed on we see that heaven's likely had to step up the pace to make way for this incredible man. We will miss him forever.
He is proceeded in death by many amazing friends and family who no doubt are happy to see him again. His parents, Winfred and Eula Linger, his brother Donald Linger, his uncle Bill Bragg and many more.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Linger, brothers Jack Linger, Dr. Jerry Linger, Joseph Linger, Tom Linger, Gary Linger and children Diane Chesnut (Dan Chesnut), Sharon Palmer (Robert Palmer), Vicki Linger (Alaa Awad), Kenneth Linger (Lori Linger), and Jennifer Colleton (Tyson Colleton).
He is also survived by his 14 grandchildren Kristopher (Michele), Eric (Sobia), Joe (Sarah), Omar (Veronica), Michael, Lena, Kenah (Fernie), Ahmed (Fereshta), Abdulrahman (Mabroka), Karlie, Damion, Akram, Lillith, and Tariq. Pap loved his 17 great grandchildren and was looking forward to the 18th on the way in October. Lastly, he is survived by his beloved dog Dillon. Please say a prayer for anyone fighting dementia, cancer, and heart disease. RIP to our sweet Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and Friend. We will all see you one day and give you another big hug.
