Randi Lee Kerby went home to rest in the arms of Jesus on September 24th, 2024. She was born to Mason and Joyce Kerby on November 5th, 1966 in McKinney, Texas.
Randi attended Lovejoy Elementary School in Fairview, TX, where her second-grade teacher, Ms. DeBarr, made a positive impression on her. This inspired Randi to become a teacher. After graduating from Allen High School, she attended Harding University in Searcy, AR, earning a Bachelor’s Degree, in Elementary Education. Randi started teaching at Community ISD in Nevada, Texas before moving to Beaver Technology Center. After spending years in the classroom Randi became an Instructional Specialist helping others on their journey as educators. Randi returned to the classroom to finish her career at Billie Stevenson Elementary. She especially enjoyed teaching science. Randi had the honor of being awarded Teacher of the Year four times during her career. After 34 years as an educator, Randi retired in May of 2024. She was known for inspiring her students and instilling confidence in them even when they doubted themselves. Randi brought joy and encouragement to her students' lives, always emphasizing the value and potential in each of them.
Randi faithfully worshiped at CARE Church in Richardson, Texas. It was clear that her source of joy was her faith in Jesus, and she wanted to share that love and peace with others. Randi spent years volunteering in the Holy Butterflies Class mentoring young girls in their walk with Jesus.
Randi is survived by her parents, Mason and Joyce Kerby, whom she adored, and her siblings, Todd (Deanna) Kerby, Kevin (Karalyn) Kerby, and Josh (Abby) Kerby. She is also survived by her nephews, Travis, Tanner, and Gus, as well as her nieces, Bella, Bess, and Amelia. She often referred to these special ones who made her an aunt, as her fan club. They brought her great pride and joy and were a light in her life.
The Kerby family would like to thank Randi’s friends and the community at large for pulling together to show Randi how much they loved her. She was so touched by the outpouring of support shown in wearing pink, making t- shirts, creating fundraisers, and helping drive her to work and medical appointments. We are also grateful for all the Healthcare Heroes who took loving care of Randi.
