Randy was diagnosed with cancer on November 29,2010...our Wedding Anniversary. He never
asked, "Why me, Lord?" Randy never felt sorry for himself. He fought hard and with courage, never giving up faith. Randy was an excellent musician. He played guitar and drums beautifully. In his youth, he played in a band, performing in several clubs in Dallas. He loved the Beatles. George Harrison was his favorite. Even in his failing days, he would move his fingers as if playing his guitar to whatever song he heard. His love of music continues with him now, singing praises to God in Heaven.
Randy was also a very talented Web Master. He had an award-winning web site, "Texans in the Civil War". He loved history, especially the Civil War, and was the web master for the Garland Historic Society. Randy spent years tracing our family’s genealogy and loved sharing information about our ancestors.
Randy was a most devoted husband and father, never raising his voice or his hand. He was Joseph’s Little League baseball coach and Cub Scout Leader and touched so many lives with his kindness, consideration, compassion and love. He would mow the yards of seniors unable to do it themselves and would tend to whatever their needs might have been, from plumbing to car repairs. In August, 2010, Randy rescued a feral puppy, named him Scooter, and raised him to be a wonderful pet. They were constant companions, along with Belle, the long-haired dachshund he loved so much. Scooter still waits for his loving master to come back home.
Randy was Sarah’s best friend. They enjoyed the same things and never got tired of each other’s company. "I will miss him and feel lost, but I know he is in a better place. He had great faith and love of the Lord. Randy was truly a great man.He will be missed by all who knew him. My best friend,my sweetheart."
