Ralph Ray Quinteros, beloved father and husband, passed away on the evening of Friday, October 18th, 2024 at McKinney Medical Center in McKinney, Texas. He was born on January 9th, 1946 in Sweetwater, Nolan County, Texas to Rafael Quinteros and Beulah Mae Houston.
Ralph was raised by a single mother who worked hard to support him. He grew up in Bell County, Texas and attended school in Temple, Texas. At age seventeen, he left school to enlist in the Air Force where he proudly served his country as a keypunch operator for nineteen months during the Vietnam War at Mountain Home AFB in Idaho.
He returned home to Temple, Texas and began looking for work. Unable to find a job, he moved to Dallas, Texas where he had an aunt living who ran a boarding house. Through his cousin, Betty Kotrla Prentice, he met Glenda Sue Turnipseed. They married on February 12th, 1966 in Dallas, Texas at the Turtle Creek Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and to this union, two children, Juli and Eddie, were born.
As a young man, Ralph began working in Dallas for Circle J Meats before moving on to Dallas Plastics Manufacturing in Oak Cliff. After being injured during a workplace accident, Ralph left Plastics and retrained to work as a barber until carpal tunnel syndrome left him unable to work. Years before it was cool, Ralph defied convention and switched gender roles with Sue who became the breadwinner of the family while he supported the family at home, raising the kids and keeping the household. Ralph particularly enjoyed reading about history and watching documentaries and old classic TV shows from his childhood on television or the internet.
Ralph was preceded in death by his mother Beulah Mae Kaufman, his father, Rafael Quinteros and his half brother Lawrence Anthony Quinteros, along with many other beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.
