Rachel Lynn Okon

On May 26, 2018, Rachel Lynn Okon was called home into the arms of her beloved Savior. In her short twenty-four years here on Earth, her generous smile and spirit touched the hearts of all who were blessed enough to know, or even just encounter her. She loved fiercely, smiled broadly and often, and took genuine pleasure in helping others.

Her many talents include writing, academia, climbing trees and other tall things, adventuring, punning, videogaming, and of course, loving others unconditionally and without limits. (singing, however . . . . ?)

Perhaps her greatest defining quality is that she is a HUGE dog person. At home on her beloved UNT campus, many lost canines found their way to her, (four in one semester alone!)

Rachel is survived by parents Donna and Peter Okon, sister Claire Okon, Grandmother Sumiko Okon, Grandparents Barbara and Wilfred Wade, Aunt Kathy and Uncle Brad Chasteen, Aunt Debbie and Uncle Charles Okon, Aunt Pati Okon-Giordano, Aunt Sherry and Uncle Tom Okon, Aunt Liz and Uncle Bill Mertz, and the following cousins: Christopher and Jamie Mertz; Cody, Jordan, and Dawson Chasteen; Thomas Okon; Ryan Giordano and Mika Giordano D’Amato.

Until our paths shall meet again, dear child, “sweet dreams, love you, and good night”.
