Rachel Carolyn Avant

Rachel Carolyn (Smith) Avant was born on September 27, 1946, and she passed away September 28, 2017. She was born in Camden, Arkansas unto parents Clifford and Evelyn (Martin) Smith.Rachel made a living for over 30 years in Camden as a grocery clerk for the local Kroger. Everyone in the small town knew her name and smiling face from their interactions with her there.Rachel left Camden in 2009, and had made the DFW area her new home since 2013.Rachel spent her time alongside her beloved dog Leah. She was also understandably very close to her only child Shannon.Rachel is survived by her daughter Shannon Benson (Brent), granddaughter Bergen Pryor, and brother Gene Smith (California).She was preceded in death by her brothers Nick and Archie SmithIn lieu of flowers or cards, the family asks that you make a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, or to the American Cancer Society in memory of Rachel.
